Our aim is also to support families experiencing communication difficulties at home. Tailor made structured programmes are available that incorporates theoretical approaches to help families gain an understanding of their position, power and role within their family composition.
The Team will offer an initial appointment to meet with the family. This is very informal and will give each family member an opportunity to ask questions and set a realistic and agreeable contract. Another appointment is offered to meet with the parent(s), then the children. This allows individuals to share information in strict confidence and agree when or how their family may become privy to this. However, there may be times when information shared cannot be held in confidence by the practitioner as there may be a level of risk, harm or danger to themselves or others. The practitioner has an ethical duty to keep people safe and will deal with these issues sensitively for the wellbeing of all parties involved.
